OILS AND SAND ON CANVAS
120CM X 100CM

Continuing with the exploration of capturing a sense of place this larger canvas uses layers of oils built up over months with the final layers blended carefully amongst the ridges and crevices created with the application of sand. Exploring man’s relationship with nature and our destructive behaviours now having devastating consequences across the globe. Sense of Place is a Chinese concept within painting focused on capturing the feel rather than direct depiction of a landscape. This piece was recently shown in my show at Sunderland Museum and Winter gardens as pert of the national touring exhibition The Flow Country addressing the destruction of the UK wetlands.
