Named and inspired after a rock climbing route at Shephard’s Crag in Borrowdale valley. The artist climbed this during her recovery from depression and wanted to relay the mood of a summer morning on the crag – the sheer beauty of the grey rock with speckles of sunlight starting to warm the surface and the green plant life fighting for survival on the rock face. A sense of freedom and serenity – at one with this delicate ecosystem. The artist at times felt she was climbing the rock again and the work flowed as each layer was applied and scrapped away.
Here it is shown in my solo show ‘Returning North’ at Kirkleatham Museum and Gardens
